The Nursing Assistant functions as a member of the health care team and provides skilled direct care to adult residents. These residents typically present with complex medical and psychiatric conditions and related functional and cognitive deficits. The deficits require that residents receive from partial to maximal assistance with activities of daily living. The incumbent applies basic skills to meet each resident's unique physical and psychological needs. The nursing assistant functions within his/her functional statement and under the supervision of Registered and Licensed Practical Nurses. Services are primarily provided to residents in need of restorative/rehabilitative or skilled care, pulmonary rehabilitation, acutely ill residents (on ACTU) and those requiring respite and end of life care. The resident population consists of individuals with acute and chronic diseases of the neuromuscular system, chronic wounds, acute and chronic medical conditions, including diabetes, respiratory diseases, heart failure, hypertension, S/P CVA, S/P treatment for carcinoma and those with cognitive and functional impairments including mobility deficits, incontinence, AOL deficits, delirium, suicidality, alcohol intoxication and confusion. nursing assistants assist in the development of policies, procedures, and SOPs that involve care provided by nursing assistants. Nursing assistants attend and participate in interdisciplinary meetings. Duties include but are not limited to:

Note: Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification prior to assuming clinical duties. The BLS requirement is satisfied by successfully completing an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider Course or Military Training Network (MTN). BLS courses are normally offered within 1-5 days of entry on duty. No online certifications will be accepted.
