This position has a pay rate of $95,000.00 annual wage.

The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner is accountable to the Vice President of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Services for providing the delivery of and supervision of medical services for Samaritas’ medication-assisted treatment program and for the delivery of physical health services for different departments. He/she is to participate with leadership for the medical oversight of the medical needs of SUD, Foster Care, New Americans and Adoptions.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Medical Screening of clients
  2. Physical Assessments of clients
  3. Prescribing of medication for clients
  4. Monitoring of clients per policy & procedures
  5. Maintain accurate client records
  6. Provide leadership and guidance for the policies and growth of physical health services
  7. Maintain appropriate and necessary communication with staff regarding responses to orders implemented and changes in client condition
  8. Report to the Vice President and SUD Director

Job Qualifications

 

Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification

 

  • Master’s degree in PA studies or equivalent required
  • Hold valid licensure, certification and/or registration to practice medicine in the State of Michigan
  • Waivered to deliver Buprenorphine
  • Valid State and Federal licenses to prescribe and administer MAT medication
  • Prior experience working with an interdisciplinary team is preferred

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

 

  • Ability to apply commonsense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic forms

  • Knowledge of various substances of abuse, the disease of addiction and signs and symptoms of detoxification

  • Knowledge of process and procedures to complete medical evaluations for youth and adolescents

  • Ability to use an Electronic Medical Record system

  • Must be able to function in an independent team setting, be flexible in attitude, and desire to provide holistic care for clients

  • Ability to understand and follow oral & written directions

  • Good interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with client, employee and organization information

  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a team in achieving common goals

  • Ability to work constructively with staff and other stakeholders

  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural context

  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English. Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to prepare letters, summaries and reports using prescribed format and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style

  • Ability to manage multiple functions of a complex organization. Strong organizational skills.
